Industrial engineering (MS)

Degree requirements

A minimum of 30 semester credit hours of coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree and deficiency courses are required to complete the Master of Science degree. The following table outlines the thesis and non-thesis tracks.

4 core courses:

  • IEE 505 Information Systems Engineering (3), IEE 598 Design of Computational systems (3), or IEE 506 Web-Enabled Decision Support Systems (3).
  • IEE 545 Simulating Stochastic Systems (3) or IEE 561 Production Systems (3).
  • IEE 572 Design of Engineering Experiments (3), IEE 573 Reliability Engineering (3), or IEE 578 Regression Analyses (3).
  • IEE 574 Applied Deterministic Operations Research Models (3) or IEE 575 Applied Stochastic Operations Research Models (3).

4 core courses:

  • IEE 505 Information Systems Engineering (3), IEE 598 Design of Computational systems (3), or IEE 506 Web-Enabled Decision Support Systems (3).
  • IEE 545 Simulating Stochastic Systems (3) or IEE 561 Production Systems (3).

Three or four courses from one of the areas:

  • Operations Research

Four courses from one of the areas:

Zero or One elective course. Two electives.
Six semester credit hours of thesis and a successful oral thesis defense. Comprehensive Exam on three out of the four core courses.
